The Main Kitchen
The larger of the two kitchens in The Frantoio, this one has been designed as a ‘teaching kitchen’. The units have been handmade by craftsmen using chestnut wood to complement the original chestnut beams in the building and the large chestnut table seating twelve is perfect for casual dining. There is a bespoke Carrara marble sink and draining area. For cooking there is a Miele five ring gas hob and two Miele steam ovens, appliances include a large Smeg American Style fridge/freezer, Miele dishwasher, Kitchen Aid Nespresso coffee machine, industrial ice machine, Smeg toaster, blender and Cuisinart electric kettle. All the necessary essentials for cooking and dining have been provided and are of the best quality.
Situated on the ground floor in the East wing of the house, there is a door to the outdoor patio dining area and kitchen herb garden, a short corridor leads along past a cloakroom into the main entrance and dining hall. Easy access to all areas of the house by a set of stairs directly up from the kitchen to the first floor and central part of the house where the main lounge is situated.
We can arrange for a local chef come and give cooking lessons here in the main kitchen (please book well in advance). Alternatively, for a lovely relaxing evening in the house he will come and prepare a meal for you to dine on the patio, where you can enjoy eating al fresco whilst taking in the stunning Tuscan scenery or in the atmospheric main dining hall where the original grinding stones of the mill have been preserved, respecting the buildings origins as an olive mill.
Windows are double glazed with shutters and mosquito screens, fans are provided in hotter months.
